ABOUT US

Kennels at Winterpock is owned by the Kirwan family. Shannon grew up working in her family’s kennel where she acquired experience in dog care, handling and training. In addition to her boarding experience, she has also handled dogs in the show ring at a national level. That passion has been passed on to her husband, Kevin as well as their three children, Sarah, Steele and Savannah. The family enjoys breeding Australian Shepherds, Plott Hounds and English Setters as well as participating in national competitions and youth events.

Recent Family Accomplishments:

• Shannon has completed several pet care training classes, including certified Pet Care Technician course and Pet First Aid course.

• Kevin and the kids showed their dogs all over the country. Their prized Plott, Steele’s Sadie Girl, finished in the National Top Ten of her Breed for 2009. With Steele handling her (at 7 years old) she also won Grand Champion Female at the Virginia Youth State Championships!
